Problem - People with diabetes were not scheduling preventive annual eye exams to avoid diabetic eye disease.
Approach – We worked with Joslin's clinical leadership to execute a program which educated patients with diabetes and their families about diabetic eye disease and encouraged them to make an appointment. The "You Might Not See it Coming. But We Can." theme informed and engaged patients with messaging that was high in emotion and visible across multiple channels, including Boston-area buses.
Results. In one summer:
- Engaged 54 patients to schedule exams for diabetic eye disease
- Informed >17,000 diabetes patients about need for annual eye exam
- Educated >5,000 diabetes patients who viewed a video about diabetic eye disease
- Enhanced brand preference for Joslin by reinforcing its diabetes expertise
